Chief Ombudsperson, Uz. Abdul Salaam Arif is a lawyer who previously worked as the Vice President of the Tax Appeal Tribunal from 2010 until 2015. He holds a Degree in Law and Masters in Comparatives Laws from the International Islamic University of Malaysia. He has represented clients at courts since 2009.

Uza. Jihadha Anees


Ombudsperson, Uza. Jihadha Anees attained LLB at Maldives College of Higher Education (now Maldives National University) and completed LLM at the International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI), Malta and has worked in various positions in the legal field including the Attorney at law at Attorney General’s Office, Assistant Prosecutor General and Public Prosecutor at Prosecutor General’s Office of the Maldives. Additionally, she has served as the Vice President at the Customs Integrity Commission.

Mariyam Laiza


Ombudsperson Mariyam Laiza has worked both in the education and human rights and humanitarian sector. She holds a Master’s in Education at Open University of Malaysia and Masters in Human Rights and Democratization from Mahidol University, Thailand. Prior to joining this position, she was working as a lecturer at Maldives National University.
