Ombudsperson, Uza. Jihadha Anees attained LLB at Maldives College of Higher Education (now Maldives National University) and completed LLM at the International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI), Malta and has worked in various positions in the legal field including the Attorney at law at Attorney General’s Office, Assistant Prosecutor General and Public Prosecutor at Prosecutor General’s Office of the Maldives. Additionally, she has served as the Vice President at the Customs Integrity Commission.

On 17th July, 2007, Uza. Jihadha Anees acquired the license to practice law in Maldives courts. She used to represent the State at different levels of courts including Magistrate courts, Criminal court and High court and Supreme Court of the Maldives. Jihadha has shared her expertise through legal advice to enhance investigative practices and investigation techniques related to criminal investigations on varieties of matters during her tenure as a Prosecutor and later as an Assistant Prosecutor General.  She has represented the Prosecutor General’s Office in various international conferences and seminars.

She is the author of the internationally published book, ‘A Legal Analysis of the Maldives Claim for An Extended Continental Shelf’, which was published on 1st October 2017 in Germany.
