U.S Embassy Meets with OTJ

Representatives of the U.S Embassy Sri Lanka and Maldives held a meeting with the Ombudsperson’s Office for Transitional Justice (OTJ). This meeting was held this morning virtually via Google Meet.

During this meeting, ombudspersons briefed the representatives of the U.S Embassy Sri Lanka and Maldives on the roles and functions of the office.

Furthermore, discussions were also held on the situation of transitional justice in Maldives. Participants of the meeting also discussed on the possible challenges OTJ may face once the office opens for case submissions, and discussed on areas of technical assistance from the embassy in effective execution of the functions of the office.

Chief Ombudsperson, Uz. Abdul Salaam Arif, Ombudspersons Uza. Jihadha Anees and Mariyam Laiza were joined for this meeting by Director General, Ahmed Yameen and Head of Technical Support Department, Uza. Fathimath Naffath Abdul Wahhaab.
